Post and beam frame is considered as a system to carry the load from the roof and floor to
the ground through the foundation wall and footing. Since the carried load to the ground
at each post location, is considered as a point load, special consideration should be
practised through the construction of foundation wall and footing. This special
consideration mainly is regarded as the extra re-in-forced concrete pad under the post.
Usually this deviation from conventional foundation which carry the studded wall, causes
higher cost. In general, basement relatively cost more than the main structure. You may
consider to build on slab and having larger structure on grade rather having basement.
Other alternative is the hybrid construction to reduce the cost of the concrete.
